About Hoya foundation mares:
Our mares are broken, worked and assessed for talent before joining, the exceptions being mares bought from outside with unique bloodlines that may have had an injury that precluded them from being ridden.
They are all tested five panel clear
Those horses with "Dart" or "Haydons Starlight" in their Waler pedigree descend from "Tester" who stood at Bloomfield station, which supplied Walers for WW1. Tester was the sire of hundreds of remounts including Midnight the famous Waler mare killed in the Charge of Beersheba.
Most of our mares are still in work (mostly cattle work).
Only one of our mares has any modern breeding in their pedigree (Memphis Park Sovereign -HSH at 3.125%) and that infusion mare (Chalani Cat Ballou - QH) received an ASH award of merit, producing many top performance horses
